Carly's Crossing is a unique, open-water swim event to raise funds for pediatric cancer research and patient programs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Joe Zwierzchowski, a family friend of Carly and lifelong swimmer, conceived of Carly's Crossing in 2003 as a tribute to her.

After over 4.4 million pennies were counted, Nardin Academy was named the first-place winner in Kiss 98.5 FM%u2019s High School Spirit contest. This year%u2019s contest collected more than $44,000 in coins plus an additional $20,000 in sponsorships to raise $64,000 benefiting Carly%u2019s Club for Kids and Cancer Research at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Nardin students raised $11,000 of the total. The school received a free concert by national recording artists The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Nardin seniors got to go to Darien Lake for a free Graduation Celebration. The school was one of 29 high schools from across Western New York that participated in High School Spirit 2007. Additional top-five participating schools and amounts collected included Lancaster ($8,025), Clarence ($7,794), Sweet Home ($6,164) and Grand Island ($3,725).

This marked the eighth year for the Kiss 98.5 High School Spirit Contest, which has now raised more than $504,000 to benefit local charities across Western New York. Presented by Kiss 98.5 FM, Pepsi, and Cold Stone Creamery.
